A Mother and Son Need a Blessing

This Easter, as we celebrate His life and rejoice at the miracle of His resurrection, let us remember those who need a resurrection in their own lives. Jane Langhorne and her son, Ralph are among them.

Ralph is Jane’s adult son. When Jane’s husband died, Ralph moved in to help care for her. And thank God for that because a few weeks ago, he saved her life!

Here’s what Jane told me:

“We were watching TV, or rather Ralph was watching, and I was snoozing in my easy chair when he touched me on the arm. ‘Mama,’ he said, ‘do you smell smoke?’

“No sooner had he said it than half the trailer was in flames. The fire was roaring through the kitchen, heading right toward us. If we had stopped to grab anything at all, we would never have gotten out.”

“We watched everything we owned go up in smoke. It was the emptiest feeling I ever had.”

The next day Ralph found a used trailer, but it’s not ready to live in. The back window is missing, and it needs front steps and a firm foundation. And, it’s completely empty inside. No furniture, no appliances, not even bathroom fixtures.

The gift you send today will bring the spirit of God’s love to Jane and her son. As we celebrate our Lord rising from His tomb, let us raise Jane’s safety and security from the ashes by making her new home habitable as soon as possible.
