Greetings Partners in Ministry!
“Praise the Lord!” says Psalm 150. “Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty expanse. Praise Him for His mighty deeds; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.”
And this has certainly been a praise-worthy summer. As you’ll read in this issue of the Newsletter, our annual Summer Festival was an amazing success. Parents and children came and really enjoyed themselves despite the heat.
The Missions has been so blessed these past few months. First, the Selma City Council was kind enough to present us with a special award for our service to the community.
Then, we were singled out by the Holy Father himself to receive an Apostolic Blessing for our efforts to live the Corporal Gospel here in the Deep South. This is an amazing validation of the life-changing work that you make possible by supporting the Missions.
This year, as we celebrate our 80th year in service to the poor, we felt it was appropriate to look back and acknowledge the courageous priests who brought us into existence. So, just before Father’s Day, Father Richard and I, along with members of the Missions staff, participated in a special ceremony to honor Fathers Frank Casey and John Paro who founded the Missions back in 1937.
The work they began is still going strong today, for one reason: Because God touched the hearts of so many people like you, who give generously to make our work possible. Thank you, my friend, and may God bless and keep you always.
